Living With Purpose Calls For Being Focused

1 Corinthians 9:26 “Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus, I fight: not as one who beats the air.”

In The Message, 1 Corinthians 9:26 reads, “I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me!”

The apostle Paul uses athletic terms to explain the Christian life. He runs and runs with a purpose. He is following the path Christ laid out for him. He fights – a boxing term – with purpose. He is engaged against the forces of evil. As Christians, we run God’s race – the race set before us – and as we run we must resist temptations and the evil around us. Just as a runner or boxer, we must prepare. We are to get in shape and stay in shape. We must then perform. We get in the race, We get in the fight. We are not spectators! We are participants!! We run and we fight for the prize.  We are focused on crossing the finish line and hear well done my good and faithful servant.

Are you focused on running God’s race that He has for you?

Quit wasting time running aimlessly!
