Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.”
If we are alert to the needs of others, we are going to see opportunities to do good to them and to be a blessing to others. All around us are people who are struggling, and many are suffering. Proverbs 3:27 challenges us to be the “good Samaritan” who SEES a need and GIVES, instead of being “keepers” like the priest and the Levite.
As believers, we should share our blessings with others. We have been blessed to bless!
Yet while we know we should give and share we are prone to procrastinate. Our verse calls on us to do good and do it NOW. When you have it in your power to do something for someone DO IT! Don’t put it off. Move your good intentions to ACTIONS!
A few other verses convey this:
Galatians 6:10 says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith.
1 John 3:17 says, “If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?”
1 Timothy 6:17-18 Instruct those who are rich in the present age….Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,
Ephesians 4:28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
The best time to do something for someone in need is now!
