Living A Life That Draws, Not Drives People Away From Christ

Colossians 4:5 “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.”

As ambassadors for Christ, we are to make the gospel attractive to outsiders, to non-believers. The NASB translates Colossians 4:5 “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.” The NIV says, “Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.” Paul told Titus to remind people to have a good testimony so that they might adorn or make attractive the gospel.  (Titus 2:10)  In the list of qualifications of a pastor 1 Timothy 3:7 says, “He must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”

Do you consider your conduct when among the lost, those outside the faith?  Do you think about how your conduct and conversation can draw a person to a personal relationship with Christ or drive them away?  Your actions bring a reaction.  To the Colossians, Paul said believers need to make the most of every opportunity to help a lost person come to know Jesus.

Today and everyday live a life that draws people to know Jesus, not a life that drives them farther away.

On your DATE with the Word, what would be some actions that would turn a person on from becoming a Christian?

AN APRIL TO BELIEVE note

With Easter on April 20, we are reading through the gospel of John. On this April 5th, we encourage you to read/listen to John 5 where Christ is DEITY and the key verse regarding believing is John 5:24.  It says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” May April be an April to Believe!
