Hebrews 9:22 “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.”
As Christians, we believe that there was an absolute necessity for Christ to shed His blood for our redemption! In fact, the blood atonement of Christ is a central Christian doctrine, as we believe Jesus Christ paid for human sin through His sacrificial death and suffering on the cross.
Notice a few verses to go with Hebrews 9:22.
Acts 20:28 “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”
Thus, we make a statement that we are BLOOD-BOUGHT BELIEVERS!
Romans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
Propitiation has the idea of one who absorbs the wrath. Jesus was our wrath absorber as He shed His blood.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
To be justified is to be declared righteous as one has given us His righteousness.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
To be redeemed is to be bought out of the slave market to be set free.
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Hebrews 9:12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
No wonder the Apostle Peter called His blood PRECIOUS in 1 Peter 1:8-19: “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
