A Heavenly Example of Worship

Revelation 7:11 “All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,”

The Apostle John writes about what he sees on his visit to heaven, and some of the most spectacular scenes he sees are scenes of worship. For instance, there are seven different passages that are called doxologies. *Doxology means to speak praise. It is to offer worship to God. While it is true that the book of Revelation tells of God’s wrath, it is also a book filled with worship to God.

What is it to worship? Worship is to count as worthy.  Worship comes from the old English word “worthship.”  When one is worshipping they are placing value and honor and most of all expressing reverence and adoration. Worship can have a person standing in awe or bowing physically in humble adoration. Here in Revelation 7:11, we read of them physically falling on their faces.  As well, worship may be demonstrated verbally as one seeks to ascribe the praise God is so worthy of receiving. For instance, in verse 12 we read of the verbal worship as they say: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Worship can be expressed with our posture and with our praise.

Do you take time daily to worship? A thought I teach is “First thing in the morning one should begin their day with giving worship to God.”

A tip I would give you to implement the idea of first thing in the morning give worship to God is to pray through the Lord’s prayer when you first wake up.  Just saying “Our Father, who is in Heaven, Holy is Your name,” will fix your mind and heart on God. Then for your quiet time, I would encourage you to read a Psalm. As well, utilize the Internet to listen to, even sing a hymn or a praise and worship song.  Then verbalize your adoration to God using one of the doxologies from the Book of Revelation.

Continue Strong worshipping God,
And remember to DATE the Word
