2 Chronicles 6:15 “You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.”
Happy Father’s Day! Coming into 2 Chronicles 6, Solomon has been building and furnishing the temple as instructed by his father, David. 2 Chronicles 2:1 says, “Then Solomon determined to build a temple for the name of the LORD, and a royal house for himself. He will tell Hiram king of Tyre his plans in verse 4, “Behold, I am building a temple for the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to Him….5 And the temple which I build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods” 2 Chronicles 3:1 says, “Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 Chronicles 5:1 says “So all the work that Solomon had done for the house of the LORD was finished;”
With the temple completed, Solomon dedicates the temple with a tremendous feast. During the feast, Solomon will offer praise to God for all that He had done. It is an incredible scene of worship and adoration as Solomon “knelt down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven saying: “LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven or on earth like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.” And then he proclaims our verse to DATE, (2 Chronicles 6:15) “You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.”
Promises made, promises kept.
Friends, you can stand firmly on the promises of God! And there are many to stand on. Those who do in-depth studies of God’s Word report there are at least 3573, while others say there are 8810 promises. While the total number can be debated, the bottom line is that God has made many precious promises to us as believers, as well as some to all humanity.
I don’t know what promises mean the most to you but there is no question for me that John 3:16 and 36 are at the top of the list as John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” And John 3:36 says, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
After these, I believe the promise of promises is His promise of His presence. My go-to has been Hebrews 13:5 as it says, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

And remember to daily DATE the Word
