Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
What incredible HELP we have from the HELPER, the Holy Spirit, when we are praying. I can’t tell you how many times I have given thanks for the knowledge taught in Romans 8:26. As I pray for myself and others, I have experienced dire moments of major uncertainty about what to pray, to say to God, next. There comes that moment of silence. SILENCE. There is a feeling of being paralyzed, accompanied by feelings of utter weakness. I have found myself feeling HELPLESS. With my desire to be bold with my request, I am just unsure what to request.
I think I am not alone in what I just shared, am I? I suspect you need the truth of Romans 8:26 as much as I do.
Notice afresh and anew Romans 8:26. It tells us, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Upon reflection of what the Spirit of God is doing, there are no more feelings of helplessness and weakness, but rather a confidence that God will hear a pure prayer and will give the exact answer needed.
So know that as you are developing your prayer life, you will be brought to Romans 8:26, for the more we pray, the more we experience “we do not know what we should pray for as we ought.” In those helpless moments, know you have a HELPER to help you pray. His help is the best because He knows our hearts and knows the Father’s heart.
