Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.””
Today we celebrate Pentecost. Many churches recognize this day as Church Planting Day, as the church was born on the day of Pentecost (50 days after Passover). In a conversation earlier this year with a leader of a remarkable mission organization, we discussed this upcoming day, as his organization would be promoting church planting. During the conversation, I was asked if I had a GREAT verse for June 8 (6/8). I said I sure did and proceeded to tell him Isaiah 6:8, and I then quoted the verse, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” We both agreed that this was a GREAT verse for their church planting day.
May I ask if you have made yourself available to the Lord by saying, “Here am I, SEND ME? I am not asking if you have made yourself available to the Lord to be in full-time ministry. I am simply asking if you have made yourself a willing vessel to be used for the Lord. As for involvement in ministry, I believe we all have some type of calling. It is not if the Lord is calling because He is. The question is what does doing something for the Lord look like? It may be that you are being called to be a volunteer with VBS at your church. It may be GIVING to the youth department so they can offer scholarships to needy students so they can attend camp. And the list of opportunities can go on and on. What I do know is that God has much work to be done and is looking for available servants.
Maybe, getting a little more personal, is to ask, are you LISTENING to hear what God is saying? Are you so busy with your life that you have no time to hear the requests of God? It is, after all, hard to hear when we are not listening. Maybe after reading this, you will start with SPEAK LORD, for your servant is listening.
Today, may the words “Here I am! Send me!” come from your heart across your lips to the heart of God!
Continue Strong being available to the Lord,
And remember to daily DATE the Word
