Psalm 9:17 “The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God.”
To acknowledge God or not to acknowledge God, that is the question. To pursue wickedness or to pursue righteousness, that is the decision. The nations and the wicked that refuse and reject God will suffer dire consequences. The horrible decisions of choosing to act against the standards of God will, in the end, bring one to a horrible destination, in hell, separated from God for all eternity.
From the dire warning of Psalm 9:17, let us be reminded from Proverbs 14:34 that, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
From the dire warning of Psalm 9:17, let us be reminded from Deuteronomy 8:11 to “Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today.”
From the dire warning of Psalm 9:17, let us be reminded from Proverbs 21:21 that great benefits of pursuing righteousness as opposed to living wickedly: Proverbs 21:21 says, “The one who pursues righteousness and faithful love will find life, righteousness, and honor.”
From the dire warning of Psalm 9:17, let us personally live differently by putting into action 2 Timothy 2:22. It says, “Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
Sept. 17 is Constitution Day. Did you know that key founders believed a new nation could only stay in existence by acknowledging and obeying God? For instance, the Father of the Constitution, James Madison, wrote, “We have staked the whole future of our new nation, not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments of God.” Let us not forget God!!!
