  1. Abiding in Christ   

John 15:4  “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.””

  1. Attitude    

Phil. 2:14 ” Do all things without complaining and disputing,”

  1. Beliefs  – knowing what I believe and why I believe it   

Luke 1:1 “Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things which have been accomplished among us, 2  just as they were delivered to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,  3  it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4  that you may know the truth concerning the things of which you have been informed.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,  17  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

  1. Balanced life: not legalistic – not liberal

  1. Convictions

  1. Committing my ways to the Lord  

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.”

Proverbs 3:5  “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

Psalm 37:3-5 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4  Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.  5  Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” 

  1. Discipling others: Matt. 28:18-20;  2 Tim 2:2  

Matt. 28:18-20  “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20  “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

2 Tim 2:2  “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

  1. Dying to self   

Luke 9:23 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. “

  1. Excelling  

 Prov. 22: 29 “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men”

  1. Being an Example   

1 Timothy 4:12  “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

  1. Faith   

Hebrews 11:6  “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that    He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

  1. Fellowship and friendships    

Acts 2:42 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Prov. 17:17 “A friend loves at all times,” 

  1. Forgiving others    

Eph. 4:32  “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.”

  1. Glorifying God in all that I do    

I Cor. 10:31  “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

  1. Generous generosity: Honoring the Lord with my first fruits  –  Giving to others in need 

Prov. 3:9-10 “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10  So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.”

Ephesians 4:28  “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is  

good, that he may have something to give him who has need.” 

  1. Humbling myself    

James 4:10  “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

  1. Being Hospitable   

I Peter 4:9  “Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.”

  1. Integrity: honesty – telling the truth –  not stealing not lying   

Prov. 10:9 “He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known.”

Psalm 15:1-5 “LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?  2  He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3  He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4  In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5  He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.”

  1. Interceding for others: Col. 1:9-11   

I Timothy 2:1-2 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2  for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

Colossians 1:9-11 “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;  10  that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;  11  strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy;”

  1. Joyful living: Laughter   

Philippians 4:4  “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”

Nehemiah 8:10  “Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our LORD. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” 

Proverbs 17:22  “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.”

  1. Doing Justly   

Micah 6:8  “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” 

  1. Knowing God: Growing in knowledge of the Lord and His love    

2 Peter 3:18  “but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”

  1. Knowing that I know I am saved    

I John 5:13  “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”

  1. Language or Communication    

Eph. 4:29  “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” 

Ps. 19:14  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.” 

  1. Loving God and others 

Matt. 22:36-40  “”Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37  Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39  And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” 

  1. Meditating on God’s Word  

Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.  3  He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
