40 Characteristics of the Lord

1. The Lord Is My Advocate

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Rev. 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

2. The Lord Is Awesome

Deuteronomy 7:21 “You shall not be terrified of them; for the LORD your God, the great and awesome God, is among you.
Nehemiah 1:5 And I said, “O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments.”

Nehemiah 4: 14 And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”

3. The Lord Is My Banner

Exodus 17:15, “And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is- My-Banner.”

4. The Lord Is the Bread Of Life

John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he
who believes in Me shall never thirst.

7. The Lord Is Full Of Compassion, Thus He Is Compassionate

With Us!

Ps. 111:4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

8. The Lord Is My Deliverer

2 Sam. 22:2 And he said: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

5. The Lord Is My Buckler

Ps 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

6. The Lord Is My Comforter.

2 Cor. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

9. The Lord Is My Door To Salvation

John 10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
John 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

10. The Lord Is My Ebenezer

13. The Lord Is My Friend

2 Cor. 6:18 “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.”
Gal. 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

12. The Lord Is My Fortress

Ps 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Prov. 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

14. The Lord Is Faithful

2 Thess. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.
1 Cor. 1:9 God is faithful,

17. The Lord Is Gracious

18. The Lord Is My God

15. The Lord Is Great

1 Chronicles 16:25 For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods.
Psalms 95:3 For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods.

Psalms 96:4 For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.

16. The Lord Is Good

Psalms 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

21. The Lord Is My High Priest

Heb. 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

22. The Lord Is My Hope

Ps 71:5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth. Ps 39:7 “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.

Ps 48:14 For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.

Ps 54:4 Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.

23. The Lord Is My High Tower

Ps 144:2 My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.

Psalms 10:16 The LORD is King forever and ever; The nations have perished out of His land.

Numbers 14:18 ‘The LORD is long-suffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’

29. The Lord Is Near

Psalms 34:18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

Rom. 8:26 Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

27. The Lord Is My Light And My Salvation

Psalms 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

33. The Lord Is My Rock

2 Samuel 22:2 And he said: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
Psalms 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

31. The Lord Is The Potter

34. The Lord Is My Shepherd

Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
Heb. 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
1 Pet. 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
1 Pet. 5:4 when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
Rev. 7:17 “for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
The good shepherd dies for us. The great shepherd rose from the dead and lives for us.
The gracious shepherd provides for us. The chief (glorious) shepherd is coming for us.

35. The Lord Is My Salvation

Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

36. The Lord Is My Shield

Psalms 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

37. The Lord Is My Strength

Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
Psalms 28:8 The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.

38. The Lord Is My Vine

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

39. The Lord Is My Vindicator

Ps 26:1 «A Psalm of David.» Vindicate me, O LORD, For I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the LORD; I shall not slip.
Ps 35:24 Vindicate me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness; And let them not rejoice over me.

Ps 43:1 Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!
