Learning Scripture to Strengthen Faith

Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

So how strong is your faith?  If you say that it is weak the first advice I would give you is to spend more time in Bible reading and study.

For stronger faith spend more time in the scriptures.

God’s Word reveals information about God so that we might know who He is and what He does. As you know more about God from His Word the more you will be able to trust Him – especially during the dark and difficult moments.  For instance, Psalm 119:92 says, “Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction.”

Consider Psalm 9:10 as it says, “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.”  Knowing the nature and the character of God that is revealed through His names increases one’s trust.

Joshua was told that he would succeed as a leader by meditating on God’s Word day and night. Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

I came across a story regarding the life of D. L. Moody, which told of how he wanted to have more faith.  To have more faith he prayed and prayed. Like the disciples, he asked the Lord to increase his faith.  However, he did not find his faith to be any stronger.  Then one day as he read Romans 10:17 it dawned on him that his faith would grow and become stronger by spending more time in the Scriptures.  As he soaked his soul with the Scriptures, his faith to believe God to do impossible things increased so much that he shook two continents for Christ!

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  To grow your faith soak your soul in the Scriptures.

For stronger faith spend more time in the Scriptures.
