Ephesians 5:10 “Finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.”
From the moment we are saved, our lives have a new desire: to know and do the will of God as opposed to doing what we want to do. As Paul writes to the Ephesians, he reminds them, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” (Eph. 5:8) To walk as children of light is to learn WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE to the Lord.
So, how are you doing in finding out what is acceptable to the Lord? We live in a world where “everyone does what is right in their own eyes.” (Judges 21:25) How are you going against that mindset? Do you open God’s Word to FIND what is right and what is wrong ACCORDING to God? Do you approach God’s Word as the final authority for your beliefs and your behavior?
Here are just a few verses that remind us what is acceptable to God:
Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
Proverbs 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
Proverbs 21:3 To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
1 Timothy 5:4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God.
I trust this whets your appetite for searching for what is acceptable to God.
To accomplish what the Lord has for us and to be who the Lord wants us to be we must diligently be SEACHING the Scriptures to know what is acceptable and what is not.
Continue Strong, finding and doing only what is acceptable to Jesus,
And remember to DATE the Word
