Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Our Bible is filled with invitations from God! Possibly the second greatest invitation from God is found here in Hebrew 4:16. We know John 3:16 along with Romans 10:13 and Revelation 22:17 (And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”) are the greatest invitations as we are invited to be saved. Now that we are saved, we are invited to come (the GK – to keep coming) to the very throne of God – a THRONE OF GRACE!
Pause and picture that throne. We are invited to come the highest of thrones with the highest of all sitting upon that magnificent throne and ask for the help we need as we face all the various issues of life.
Here at the throne of the KING OF KINGS, we obtain mercy and find grace as we pour out our shortcomings. We are invited to pour out our pain, to pour out our fears, to pour out our lack of understanding (it is at this place we ask God for wisdom for handling life, James 1:5). It is almost hard to comprehend, is it not, that we can make our plea for help to GOD. Yet we not only are invited to “come” we are invited to come BOLDLY!! We are invited to come BOLDLY to a sympathizing (4/15) High Priest who will act with well-timed help! WHAT A SAVIOR we have! What a salvation we enjoy.
The hymn WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS is such a great reminder of the great invitation. It starts, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!” But then it speaks convicting words as the writer challenges us with “O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.”
Be reminded of God’s invitation that HE wants to help you!
AN APRIL TO BELIEVE Note
With Easter on this coming Sunday, April 20, we are reading through the Gospel of John. On this April 16th, we encourage you to read/listen to John 16 where Christ is the Preeminent One. The key verse for BELIEVING in Jesus is John 16:30. It says, “Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.” May this April be an April to Believe!
Continue Strong coming boldly to the throne of grace for help,
And remember to DATE The Word
