John 5:24 “Truly I tell you, anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.”
The writer John will convey throughout the book bearing his name, the Gospel of John, over and over, the promises of Jesus to those who believe in Him. Starting at John 3:15, we read, “So that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.”
Then in John 3:16 we read “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:36 says, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Now in John 5:24 Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, (or I tell you the truth) anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.”
What a promise to those who believe!!! Putting one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings about many incredible transitions. He takes our sins and gives us His righteousness. We get a new nature. Here we pass* from death to life. (*A little Greek here for emphasis – the Greek word for passed is in the perfect tense which means an accomplished transition and a settled state. There is no reversal. The action is finalized. The Apostle Paul will write later in Romans 8:1 that “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” In Colossians 1:13, he wrote, “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”
As we think about our Savior and our salvation, we can only conclude that we have an incredible, kind, and gracious Savior who provides us with salvation for our souls. With the promise of eternal life, we have the promises of promises. WHAT A SAVIOR!! What a SALVATION! WORTHY IS THE LAMB!
God sent His Son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life! Have you believed?
Continue Strong standing on the promise of eternal life,
And remember to daily DATE the Word
