1 Chronicles 11:14 “But they stationed themselves in the middle of that field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.”
As believers, we are in a spiritual battle every moment of every day. We must be on full alert at all times, as our adversary is relentless in looking for the slightest of openings to attack and devour. Peter described him as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) Paul will tell us that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:13) Because of this battle, he tells us to be strong and STAND, standing having put on the armor of God. James also speaks and tells us to “Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
Looking at our verse in 1 Chronicles 11:14, we see a physical example of our spiritual warfare. As the Israelites were being attacked by the Philistines, they made decisive decisions that had a huge impact on the battle. Our verse tells of a great victory because the soldiers, as vessels in the hand of God, STATIONED themselves at a strategic place and STOOD THEIR GROUND, resisting steadfast the attacks of the enemy. The attackers then went on the attack, and God brought about a great victory.
One of the many takeaways here is the resolve to stand their ground. There was a resolve to resist and not retreat that brought about the victory. Just as there was no retreat for these soldiers, we never run in retreat from the Battle.
How does this verse instruct and inspire you as you fight spiritual battles?
Stand your ground!!
Continue Strong with resolve to resist the evil one,
And remember to DATE the WORD
