Treat Wisdom And Insight Like Family

Proverbs 7:4 “Say to wisdom, ‘You are my sister,’ And call understanding your nearest kin,”

Over and over, wisdom appeals for us to ACQUIRE wisdom. It is as if wisdom knows that we are prone to believe we know ENOUGH and we don’t need to KEEP ON getting wisdom!  From the very beginning, we have an appeal to INCREASE in learning, in getting wisdom.  Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.”  A wise person knows that there is always more to learn.  The wise person not only learns a lot about life, but they also know that they don’t know it all, so they KEEP learning. Only a fool thinks they know it all with no need to learn more.

Our verse calls us to view wisdom as someone very special, so special we CHERISH them. When it comes to wisdom, we need to cherish wisdom. Like a special sister with whom you want to spend time, as well as protect.  Wisdom is to be like a dear family member!

Interestingly, if you are reading Proverbs 4 for July 4 (one chapter a day from Proverbs, reading the chapter that matches the date), you would be reading Proverbs 4:7, which says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore. get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”

Have you come to understand that you know that you don’t know it all?  Do you know that you don’t know enough?  Are you GETTING WISDOM? Do you CHERISH wisdom?  Are you on a pursuit of gaining more wisdom, to have more heavenly skills for earthly living?  I trust Proverbs 7:4 rekindles your love for acquiring wisdom!
A very wise man named John Wooden said, “ALWAYS BE LEARNING! WHEN YOU ARE THROUGH LEARNING, YOU ARE THROUGH.  He also said. “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.”
