“Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now, therefore, come, let us go and tell the king’s household.” – 2 Kings 7:9 |

Let’s GO and TELL the Good NEWS Before us is a great verse to remind us to be SOUL WINNERS! Someone said that “soul winning is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find food!” The context of 2 Kings 7:9 is about four lepers, who like everyone else around them at that time were living in a terrible drought and experiencing the horrible pains of famine. Deciding they had nothing to lose by surrendering to the enemy they walk into the enemy’s camp only to find it to be empty except for LOTS OF FOOD. One might imagine the joy of their hungry stomachs being filled. However, their joy subsides for a moment as at least one of the lepers begins to think about others who are starving. Pausing from eating to speak comes the words of our verse to ponder: “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now, therefore, come, let us go and tell the king’s household.” And the rest of the story is these beggars who had found food were now sharing the news with other starving beggars about where to find food. Let’s get personal. How do you apply this verse to your life? Is there an urgency to share the good news that changed your life with others? As you enjoy the rich blessings of salvation do you think about others who are not saved? Would you agree that when you have what other people need and you don’t share it you are doing WRONG? Having received the greatest blessing of salvation WHO do you need to GO and TELL so they might know the Savior and the blessings of salvation? Bonus: Just a few verses for soul-winning. Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise. Daniel 12:3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
