Deuteronomy 6:9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
A summation of Deuteronomy 6:9 is the Israelites were to write verses and put them where they are easily seen to be read and remembered. The practical application for us today is to have posters or plaques or pictures with verses on them hanging on various walls in our home and/or office so that they are easily seen to be read and remembered.
This concept for learning God’s Word is also conveyed by Solomon in Proverbs 7. Proverbs 7:1 reads, “My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; 2 keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; 3 bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”
For what it is worth I will tell you that one of the best ways I have for writing (hiding) God’s Word in my heart is to write it out on an index card and then place the index card in a place where I can see it repeatedly during the day.
Now for personal application, how are you placing Bible verses so they can easily be seen so you can read them to be reminded of God’s Word?
Do a personal inventory of your home and see how much scripture you see. And after the inventory you might want to do some shopping.
Saturating your house with Scripture is a good way to saturate your heart with Scripture.
Two really good verses to have before your eyes are:
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Nehemiah 6:9 For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done.” Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.” (You don’t have to pray a lot to have prayed a lot.)
